lets think out of the box

since we have learn on introduction to waves..so now its your turn to relates the theory of waves in our daily life..other than all 4 examples of waves given in last lecture..discover and discuss among friends about...

ombak rindu versi fizik adalah "missing waves"

salam..
i'm sure almost all of my student did watching ombak rindu which I can respond or say that..it is not even related to any waves eventhough the name is ombak..or maybe it is actually suppose to be ONGBAK..hihi..

so today, and since ombak is part of our topic..lets get to our main point of review which is WAVES..This chapter containing several subtopic and it is the 1st chapter in form 5 syllabus.



WAVES
*      Cause by vibrations or oscillations.
*      Transport energy without permanently displacing the medium.
*      Can  either be a Mechanical waves which require a medium to travel eg. Sound wave or Electromagnetic waves which do not require a medium to travel.

There are two types of waves:
Transverse Waves:
The vibration of the particles of the medium is perpendicular (up and down ) to the motion of the wave.
eg. Water waves,rope waves and waves on springs.


Longitudinal Waves:
The vibration of the particles of the medium is along the same/parallel direction as the motion of the wave.
eg.Waves on springs and sound waves.

  • Waves is a process of transferring energy and momentum from one location to another WITHOUT transferring matter 
  • Waves is produced by an oscillating or vibrating motion
    1. Example of waves :- sound waves, light waves, water waves,Electromagnetic waves
    1. What is wavelength?
      Wavelength is a measure of distance, so the units for wavelength are always distance units, such as meter, centimeters, millimeters, etc.
      A Period is the time it takes for one full wavelength to pass a certain point.
      What is wave frequency?
      Frequency is the number of waves(vibrations) that pass through a point in one second. The unit for frequency is waves per second or Hertz (Hz). One Hz = One wave per second.
      Wavelength and frequency are inversely related.
      The smaller the wavelength, the more times it will pass through a point in one second.
      The larger the wavelength, the fewer times it will pass through a point in one second.
